six

Hey Reader,

I didn’t want to leap into your inbox with a big list of resolutions or shiny new goals. Although I do admit that as a Capricorn (and a project manager!), this is very much my season. I do love a plan.

But before jumping into the next thing, I want to pause. To wish you well as we step into a new year.

New Year emails often go big… big goals, big energy, big pressure. But I’m starting 2026 with something a little gentler. Instead of asking what do I want more of?, I’ve been asking myself:

What do I want to leave behind?
What’s no longer serving me?
What’s taking up too much space in my head, my week or my calendar?

Here’s what I’m not taking into this year:

  • Overthinking
  • Comparison
  • Social media (as much as possible)
  • Doom scrolling
  • Overscheduling
  • Guilt

And here’s what I’m leaning into instead:

In:

  • Making memories + adventures (I shared last week that I’ve already got theatre tickets booked… Six and Mamma Mia! at the request of my daughter. Yes, I will be singing along.)
  • Daily steps + movement
  • Intention in how I spend my time
  • Corporate client work
  • Public speaking
  • Joy, laughter and fun (Like the Calvin Harris gig at Hampden Park this summer; he was my top artist on Spotify Wrapped, so this feels very on brand.)

It’s not about doing everything. It’s about doing the right things… for me, in this season of life and business.

2025 brought its own blend of wins as well as wobbles. If you fancy a cuppa and a read, I’ve written a full review of my 2025, both business and personal:

And if you’re starting this year with that quiet whisper of “I want things to feel different”… you’re not alone.

Here’s a gentle reflection prompt for you:
What’s one thing you’re not bringing into 2026?
I’d love to hear (genuinely!) - hit reply and tell me.

And if your team or organisation is looking for time and project management training in 2026, I’d love to help. I’m fully booked for January, and February is filling fast.

What's making me tick?

  • Something to read - I shared a few thoughts with Ellen Scott on the "I've achieved nothing" end of year spiral which was published in Stylist magazine last week, the article is here to read (paywall).
  • Slow living - this was the board game that my son and I have been playing most days since Christmas, it's called Royal Visit and we bought it at Settlers in Glasgow's Southside after the owner recommended it to us. Well, it's brilliant and I'm now recommending it to you! It's a little complicated, but essentially is a "deluxe game of tug-of-war", as described here. The goal of the game is to get the King or the Crown into your castle. Sounds simple, but I have been thrashed many times... despite trying my hardest!

Until next time, have a great week.

Best,
